Patriotism

Patriotism is defined as devotion to or a love of one’s country. Patriot and patriotism are two words we have heard used and misused a great deal over the past four year, so what does it really mean to be an American Patriot or for that matter a patriot of any country. Countries are defined by their political structure, laws, customs, and traditions. To be a patriot of any country you must believe in and support the political structure, laws, customs, and traditions of that country otherwise the word patriot itself becomes meaningless. American patriot, Saudi patriot, Chinese Patriot all have different meanings because each country has a different political structure and different laws, customs, and traditions.

America has a long history of justice under the rule of law based on evidence. We are a Constitutional Republic with a strong democratic tradition and long history of free and open elections. Our forefathers gave us a common dream of equality and justice for all and a process to follow in order to create a more perfect union and achieve that dream. These are the laws, customs, traditions and political structure of our country. So were those who participated in the rally on January 6th and stormed the U.S. Capital in an attempt to overturn a free election and the will of the American people misguided American patriots or traitors to their country?

There is an old saying that goes something like this “You can fool all of the people some of the time and you can fool some of the people all of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.

The person most responsible was the person who lied to them, mislead them, encouraged them and betrayed them.
